Competition Entries

I’ve only recently started entering illustration competitions so there aren’t many pics to show here but I have enjoyed them. Like all things I expect there’s a kind of rhythm to them, an understanding of what they’re looking for generally. In some respects I don’t much care about that aspect of it, I will enter if I have a clear idea and I have time. So these two entries are quite different. The first was entered into a Dreamland themed competition for the CYA Conference and the second for a Folio Society competition for an illustration of Neil Gaiman’s The Truth is in a Cave in the Black Mountains (what an intense and fabulous story!).

“Something, a finger I thought, touched my hand: it was not bony and hard. It was soft and humanlike. But too cold. He Sleeps.”
