Folio printouts for Kidlit Vic 2023

It’s been more than 15 years since I last assembled a portfolio. Then it was for my graphic design work with a little digital illustration. Now that I’ve decided to commit to a career as an author / illustrator it’s time to revisit this process. I forgot how peculiar a process it is. “Choose your best work in a consistent style,” is the brief for such a task. Generally it isn’t ourselves that decides what these are but the end user. But given I’ve not worked as an illustrator in nearly 20 years and I’ve shifted from 100 percent digital to 98 percent traditional media (2 percent for minor clean up and colour correction) it’s definitely time for a new one. The one shown here was assembled quickly for the KidLit Vic conference. I only decided fairly last minute to enter one. It’s largely taken from three main book projects I’ve been working on, with a couple of additions.
